We could hardly swallow the last piece of our Christmas meals and online magazines have already started to promote the diet business.
„Christmas belly? 10 best ways to lose that weight!”
„Want to exercise from January? Learn how much running you need to lose weight!”
Just a few of the headlines replacing Christmas meal recipes in my Facebook newsfeed. No surprise that you also have bad conscious about all that delicious food you had during the holidays and you are too scared to face the number on the scale. January and late spring are the best periods to convince you easily: you must lose weight!
As always, let me get this straight: if you felt better with a few pounds less, by all means, lose some weight however until you reach that goal, do not waste your time on self-loath and stop hating yourself. Honestly, where did self-hate take you?
As an alternative method for the new year, I have a proven idea for you but mind you, there are consequences. If you get this routine, you may eventually fall in love with your life and yourself. As I told you, do it at your own risk!
The base for this routine is one of the most common reasons behind low self-confidence: comparison. Others are better, they have it all, their lives are easier – as we tend to think. The only way to stop these thoughts is gratitude. Be grateful for all you have, for who you are and for how you look. Gratitude will make you feel better and not only you: you can build up others, too! Instead of „Sorry that I am late!” say „I’m grateful for your patience, thank you for waiting for me!”. Instead of „Sorry for being such a mess!” say „Thank you for loving me unconditionally!”. While being gentle to yourself, you can also boost other people’s moods by expressing your gratitude towards them! Win-win!
So if there is one thing to change about yourself in 2017, let it be gratitude. Believe me, you have so many things to be grateful for, even in the darkest hour of your life!
