I can hardly believe it but more than one week has passed since the Elle Fashion Show I visited while I was in Hungary and I will always remember that day. Thanks to Tchibo Hungary I was asked to participate at this event ont hat Saturday at their booth. I have worked with many teams and people before (even before I started Beauty with Plus) and without exaggeration I can tell that the ladies at Tchibo has a special bound and the best team work. You can tell how much they love their jobs, each other and of course a good coffee (who doesn’t, right?), not to mention the products they handle. They helped me through the day as unfortunately my Marco did not get any days off and couldn’t be there with me.
I arrived to the venue in the morning and right after a delicious coffee (which I desperately needed after the previous night’s opening party at Elle and since I felt really sick) we had a rehearsal of the show. I was quite nervous, especially when I spotted the mannequin decoration at the beginning of the catwalk, I seriously thought I would bump into them. The rehearsal went smooth and I even got some random compliments from a phorographer which boosted my self-confidence.
I got my hair and makeup which was fresh and young then I spent the afternoon at the Tchibo booth where I gave styling and confidence advices to women. Hours went by rapidly and at 3 pm I had to go to have my makeup and hair refreshed and change for the show. My heart was racing as I stood among the professional models and I felt the tension on everybody in the backstage. Since I was opening the show I stood in the front, got a last makeup and hair fixing and the show manager looked at me: „You look absolutely gorgeous!”. Yeah, I needed that and I believe she knew it. She counted back from 9, tapped my shoulder and said „Go!”.
I heard as the speaker announced my name and my mission, the music started loud and I found myself walking up the stairs in the direction of the catwalk. Due to the lamps I did not see anything from the crowd, my eyes were set on the long white catwalk and the only thing I saw were the flashes of the photographers at the end of the catwalk. I was walking confident, smiling and did a bit of spontaneous posing at the end which got a lot of compliments from the professional models in the backstage who watched me on the screen. It all happened so fast and I found myself going back to the backstage, flying above the ground and high on adrenalin. This event was not a plus size event so it is a huge deal to have a brand showcasing plus size designs and I am truly honoured that I could be part of it. Everybody smiled at me, even strangers hugged me and congratulated and I couldn’t stop smiling. I am so blessed!
Beauty has no size and it is good to see that Tchibo believes in diversity, too! Thank you for the fantastic opportunity!
