#dailyPLUS : Disappointment is the action of your brain readjusting itself to reality.
No matter how corny that sounds, this is actually what is happening. There is the reality, how things are, how people truly feel and behave and another universe exists paralelly: your imaginary world which seems so real that you tend to believe the bright vision of your future according to these images. Because your future spouse will pop the question during a live radio show, just as you adore in the movies. Because your colleague will share the work equally with you since you are on the same hierarchy level. Because as a young journalist you will spend on a pair of Jimmy Choo instead of the rent since Carrie Bradshaw did that so effortlessly. You imagine how it would be. Then you get the cold shower: your partner loves you though putting that ring on you is not his priority and your colleague barely does the minimum of work while you go nuts. Struggling to pay the rent while sharing the apartment with 2 other girls seem so distant from sipping Cosmos with the them. But what happened? Were all the cards got stacked against you? No, not really. The pain and disappointment you feel is the action of your brain readjusting to reality which is not such a bad place though not as you imagined. What is the lesson? While planning long term is important, try to live in the present, be happy for the moment and instead of having expectations, show acceptance towards others.
